Born in Terre Haute, Indiana, Sean has his roots in Edgar County, Illinois, with his mother’s family having lived there since 1835. Sean was a long time resident of Illinois when he and his family moved to Midland, Michigan when he was a teenager.
Sean graduated from Midland High School in Midland, Michigan in 1989. He then went on to graduate from James Madison College at Michigan State University located in East Lansing, Michigan. He graduated in 1993 with a B.A. in Constitutional Democracy and Political Theory.
Following this, Sean attended Wayne State University Law School located in Detroit, Michigan where in his third year, he was elected President of the Student Board of Governors. He had the honor of speaking at his commencement and received his J.D. in May of 1996. In 1996, Sean was also admitted to the Michigan Bar.
Attorney Sean Britton is a member of the Illinois Bar Association, a member of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, a member of the American Bar Association and a member of the Coles-Cumberland Bar Association.
He is a lifetime member of the Charleston Masonic Lodge and serves on the Board of Directors of the United Way of Closes County, Inc. and the Board of Trustees of the Coles County Historical Society.
Sean has been A.V. rated by his associates through the Martindale-Hubbell rating service. In addition, he has the distinction of being rated 10 out of 10, Superior, by the AVVO attorney rating service.
He is also a fellow of the American Bar Foundation.
